Zhou Wei  (1961 —         )
Zhou Wei, born in 1961, is a native of Shenyang in Liaoning province and studied at the Lu Xun Academy of Art. He is currently Chairman of the Art Department of the Liaoning Provincial People's Gallery of Art. "Spring Breeze" was one of the prize-winning works featured at the Sixth National Art Exhibition held in Beijing in 1984.

    About this work

    This exuberant painting celebrates kite flying that attends the coming of spring in China. There are typically as many different kinds of kites as there are individuals who fly them which is part of the message of this work. It is created in bright purple, magenta, green and yellow colors that add to the feeling of spring and the festive nature of the scene. The faces shown in the picture are bright and hopeful, irrespective of age.
