He Daqiao was born in 1961 in Harbin City, Heilongjiang province. He entered the People’s Liberation Army Art Institute in 1976 and graduated from the Fine Arts Department in 1983. 
Following graduation he worked as a stage designer for the Song and Dance Ensemble of the PLA General Political Department, leaving in 1992 to work on his own as a professional artist. In 1984, his painting “The Warm Sunshine” won the Prize of Excellence at the 6th National Exhibition, Beijing. In 1987, his “Still Life” won the Prize of Excellence at the First China Oil Painting Exhibition and, in 1992, “Untitled” won the Prize of Excellence at that year’s Chinese Oil Painting Exhibition, Beijing. Both “Still Life” and “Untitled” are in The Hefner Collection. He Daqiao’s paintings are included in private and institutional collections worldwide and can be seen in numerous group exhibitions throughout China. In 2005, his work was included in the Beijing Landscape Exhibition held at the National Art Museum of China, Beijing, and in 2006, He Daqiao’s work was a part of the China National Contemporary Arts Exhibition, Beijing. He Daqiao currently resides in Beijing.
